More About Me

Passionate About Inspiring Others

Hi. I’m Heath.

My entire childhood was spent being overweight. As I’m sure you can imagine, I have plenty of horror stories that I can tell which involve kids who were still young enough to be brutally honest or that were old enough to know when they were bullying. I had a happy youth though; I had lots of friends, a supportive family, and I grew up in an era when technology was rapidly evolving, feeding into my love of being an early adopter.

It wasn’t until I was in my mid-twenties, and at my highest weight of 463.5 pounds, that I decided enough was enough. I had started down the path of a new career but was so unhealthy I didn’t know what my future really looked like.

After a life-changing gift was offered to me, and an awkward situation of having to book 2 seats on a plane occurred, I knew it was time to change my life.

Over the course of 2 years I lost 264.5 pounds. This wasn’t with some magical pill, by going on some intense weight loss challenge (like the biggest loser), having gastric bypass surgery, or ingesting a live tape worm (GROSS, but people have done this). I lost the weight by learning to live and eat healthy.

Let me say that again. “I lost the weight by learning to live and eat healthy”. In 2 years, I lost over half of my own body weight. Enough weight to make an entire 2nd human.

To do this, I had to find my WHY. Why did I want to lose the weight? I was very introverted and felt like I was sitting on the sidelines of my life, avoiding situations that would draw attention to me. I was tired of missing out on opportunities because of my weight. Why did I want to keep it off? I wanted to honor the people that had inspired me to make this change…and because I am stubborn.

I’ve now kept the weight off for over 12 years and have a new WHY. I want YOU to know that you can do this, too, and I want to help you learn how. You may have 5 lbs. to lose or you have may have 300 lbs. to lose; the amount doesn’t matter. The WHY matters and how you get there. This is why I’ve created GreaterThanYesterday.Fitness.

There may be things other than weight you want to be better at. You may want to change careers, make more money, be a better friend, give back to the community, etc. That is also what GreaterThanYesterday.Fitness is about. So please, join me as we form a community, share ideas, and make today Greater Than Yesterday.
